Thermally Modified Wood

Thermally modified wood is wood that has been treated with steam and heat to enhance its durability, making it suitable for use in saunas. The treatment process makes it resistant to warping, decay, cracking and it also enhances the wood's natural color. Thermally modified wood is chemical free, organic and only steam, heat, and pressure is used in the treatment process. The cellular structure of the wood is changed during the treatment process making it very durable and less absorbent to moisture.
